Dawn

It's not a fresh start like so many claim the new year to be. Well, that's true on paper, but really, it's just a continuation from where we left of in 2012.

Now, I don't mean to be a party pooper and take a shit on everyone else's optimism, because the Placebo effect works at times, and most certainly, the day set aside to celebrate that welcoming of the new year is beneficial for me - yay public holidays. But realistically speaking, it's just another day. I hate coming up with new year's resolutions, and rightfully so. You see, when you have that enthusiasm to start anew, you'll come up with a million and one things to do. You've experienced it on a smaller scale; like when you wake up feeling good, like the "today's gonna be a good day" feeling and then you get up and plan to do this and that, but as the day progresses you find yourself slowly slipping away from the proposed tasks at hand. It's not your fault because enthusiasm dies out quickly.

Most people don't know the difference, because at the end of the day, it's not enthusiasm that keeps you going, but passion. Passion lies deeper in you and not just skimming the surface. Passion gives you the drive to do things, the desire to get things done.

So I've resolved not to bother with resolutions, but to keep going.
Besides, isn't it better to put those plans into action instead of coming up with a list of those plans?
Talk about counter-productivity.

But that said,
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUISE.

Blind, but now I see.

As a Christian, I've been raised to believe that everything happens for a reason, no matter how unfair they seem. I've been taught not to doubt God's ways because He works in mysterious ways.

But I cannot ignore the deaths of innocent lives and dismiss them as just pieces of the bigger picture. To say that one has to die for a divine purpose is absurd at the very least. I'm deeply uncomfortable that we live our lives under the illusion that we have free will, yet our destinies are predefined by a higher being. What then, is the use of free will, when we are ultimately, at God's mercy - pawns on a galatic chessboard to be sacrificed at any strategic moment.

From a biblical point of view, yes we are given the gift of eternal life, even though we are unworthy, but when we pledged our lives to God, this isn't really what I'd expected, to be disposed of with such ease that I tend to wonder if my life had any value from the start. Why work so hard, to achieve so much, when you can lose them all at the snap of a finger.

Forgive me Lord, but did you hear the cries when you were preparing to take their lives? Did you hear the muffled laughter of those fiends as they were realeased from prison, free to wreck havoc once again?

Justice is blind, justice is dead.

Fakebook

So from the above image, 209,363 people fell for it, while obviously, only 166 people labelled it as fake.
This is sad, if people fall for scams this easily. I'm also reminded of the other shenanigans that have been polluting the Facebook community these days.

I find it funny when someone would randomly add 5000 friends and then think that those are true friends and that he/she is super popular. Isn't it absurd, that these people not realise that getting 'likes' on pictures and statuses isn't a good indication that they're well-liked by people? How do they know so much about sex and not comprehend that when guys like their utterly pointless posts, it just means that they want to get in their pants. Obviously, one can tell a witty status from a mountain of trashy ones. And how long do they plan to keep hiding the fact that they're not as good looking and hot as their make-up and photoshop laden pictures might suggest? I mean, if you want to see them as they are, look at the pictures they're tagged in, they're more candid.

The most disgusting of the lot are people who literally beg for 'likes'. Again, read above for complimentary palm to your face. Difference is that these people try way, way harder than their already attention-whoring counterparts in the race to be the most coveted facebook's resident slut. So as the new year dawns upon us, I can only hope that this isn't the downward spiral that people these days are descending into; that there is, in a little corner hidden somewhere, hope for humanity, and not everything is as fucked up as they seem.

ROFL jk R.I.P humanity.

..and The Rev. I miss you.

Mr Sandman

It seemed like yesterday, when I wrote the post about how quickly 2011 ended, and here I am, about to write about how quickly 2012 has come and gone. Humanity has a funny practice. We'd constantly rue the missed opportunities to be productive throughout the year and then resolve to rectify that the following year, but the same cycle repeats itself over and over again.

We're an odd bunch of people; we never learn. We take things for granted, and mourn when those things are taken from us - only to take things for granted once again, when things stabilize. That's humanity in a nutshell for you. We only react to pain, and its absence comes ignorance and the false assurance that things will be alright.

A man married his childhood sweetheart. But over the years, he caved in to lust and was unfaithful to her. Soon enough, his wife died of an illness and he wept for days. He felt terrible for the things he'd done and swore upon her grave to change his ways. A few more years passed and he was walking along the street at night. A voluptuous night walker offered her services to him, and once again, he succumbed to his desires, ignoring whatever resolutions he'd made for himself.

The moral of the story? Don't trust a fucking man. Ha, I'm half-kidding.
Let me end the post with another story, this time from personal experience.

I used to be annoying when I was younger, and there was this girl back then who would stick her nose up whenever she saw me. Years passed and I thought I'd try to start again, in the capacity of a changed person. She apologised for being mean and promised to treat me better. That was last year, and I'm still waiting for that change.

People never change, do they.

That's why next year, I want to stop being human, because if you think about it, it's not too bad a deal.

After all, they say that most humans are worse than beasts.

Post 2012

So we survived the apocalypse, that's a good way to end the year. I'm sorry, for all those people out there who literally spent every dime on survival pods and other physical proofs of their paranoia. I hope those objects will hold sentimental memories for ages to come; they better do, considering how much money they splash on them. haw haw. Mayans - 1, 21st Century idiots - 0.

Now if you have followed my journey throughout the year, you'll know that 2012 has been a life-changing year for me. From The Chimp to substandard friends, to National fucking Service. Who needs TNP's flame awards, just browse through my blog and you'll see a worthier shortlist, hands down.

As we grow older, we get caught in this situation where, we know that life is actually pretty simple, and we want to keep it that way, but until we're able to make a difference, we're still forced to play by the rules made by people who keeps it complicated. Over time, some people give up, and they too, start think life is difficult, which is sad, because they lose that childhood innocence that had the potential to change the way people live.

I'm really only saying this because I'm blaming these assholes for unnecessary wars which eventually resulted in NS. Like what the fuck, you fucking politicians have prestigious degree and you think that killing thousands to satisfy your own whims is a good idea? Oh that's right, I guess the word politician really stresses the kind of selfish people they really are; nothing like 3 'i's to underline that individualism.

Whew all that ranting is making me tired. Talk about e-laziness. ROFL.
Proper year review tomorrow!

Black Christmas

Clomp, clomp.

He was tired, so tired of well.. everything.
Every fucking day was just as draining. Wrapping endless gifts, reading from a pile of never-ending letters from spoilt brats demanding that they get little ponies and fast cars for Christmas. "He has an army of magical elves," they said. Where the fuck were the elves, when he needed them. There were NO elves around in the first place, idiots.

He hated how kids would blame him when he couldn't bring "Daddy home for Christmas.", or when they "got an iPad2 instead of an iPad3." No word of thanks, no appreciation; it's either he gets it right and satisfy them, or be mocked at every god damn year. "That big red lump messed it up again.", "I hate you Santa." Where's Rudolph? What, you think reindeers live to a hundred fucking years? Rudolph's buried in his backyard; and on his grave stood a neat marble tombstone. Nobody cared, of course; who gives a shit about a stupid old tool when there were presents to open? Nobody knew how he mourned for days over his fallen companion; perhaps the only being in the world who understood him. Rusty could never replace him, but not to worry, the world will never be the same after tonight.

Click.

He set out on his business, going down chimney after chimney, laying presents under beautifully decorated Christmas trees. The burden of the world was upon his shoulders, in his huge red bag, but he didn't care; in fact he has never felt so light in his entire, miserable life. Slowly but surely, his bag began to deflate, and he was done for the night. A cheery grin formed on his pudgy lips as he got ready to head home.

Ho Ho Ho!

From his sleigh, the view of the city was breathtaking; and that was just one of the thousands of cities around the world. He made sure that every child had his present. And just for that year, he tore the naughty list in half, because he didn't want anyone to miss out just because of some silly mistakes.
He took out a remote control from his pocket and weighed it in his palm. A little red button sat nicely in the middle, and that was the last time he looked like the jolly old fellow we've all known and loved. Santa Claus pressed the red button.

Merry Christmas boys and girls.

Doomsday 2012

Hi, I will be hosting Doomsday 2012, all for your viewing pleasure. It's T minus 4 hours and 15 minutes before the end of the world, and you'll get the latest updates on human stupidity right here, on Benjamin Lestrange.

Some thoughts before the show though. Let's talk about the possible scenarios we can see come Doomsday. First on our list is the potential rise in violence around the world. Idiots who believe in the apocalypse and have in their possession, firearms and an unsound mind, might just unleash chaos on the innocent people minding their own businesses. With the YOLO and "fuck-everything-else" trends infecting the deepest recesses of the human population, how true this speculation will be, is anyone's guess.

Next on the stupid list are the people who have spent their life savings building apocalypse-proof survival pods. Silly humans, believing that these contraptions can withstand the end of the world. Perhaps while they were abused by their drunk mothers throughout their childhoods, they didn't study enough to understand what apocalypse really means. If you're looking for the funny side of Doomsday 2012, stick around for their post-Doomsday interviews.

But not all are fun and games. Students will rue the fact that they've been spending their entire lives studying. "Get good grades, and you'll be a doctor," said one of your parents. Kids live by that mantra, only to find that no matter how many As they get, they'll still fail the Live Beyond Doomsday test. BAM! you're all gonna die, assholes.

That's all we have so far on the latest news. Stay tuned for more speculations and insights before the special day.

Sike, gonna sleep and get ready for my hospital appointment tomorrow.

P.s sorry Mayans, but I believe the expiry date on my canned beans more than your fucking stone calendar. Cheers
